COMPLETE HAPKIDO GOLD COAST

CODE OF CONDUCT

At our Hapkido school, we train not just to improve physically, but to develop discipline, humility, and respect in all aspects of life. As a member of this community, you are expected to uphold the following principles:

1. Respect the Art, the Dojang, and Its Traditions

Show reverence for the centuries-old traditions of Hapkido and the generations of martial artists who came before us. Treat the dojang (training hall) as a place of focus, respect, and self-improvement.

Bow when entering and leaving the mat; wear your uniform with pride and care.

2. Respect Your Teacher and Training Partners

Always follow the guidance and instruction of your instructor with focus and willingness to learn. Understand that Hapkido techniques, while effective, can be painful. Practice with care, control, and consideration. Protect your training partners—never risk injury for the sake of ego or performance.

3. Leave Your Ego at the Door

There is no place for arrogance, boasting, or self-importance in our school. True martial arts is about self-mastery, not domination over others. Be open to correction and feedback—it is how we grow.

4. Uphold a Spirit of Humility and Respect for All Martial Arts

We do not speak poorly of other martial arts styles or schools. Every martial art has its strengths and history. Seek understanding, not judgment. Represent Hapkido with dignity both inside and outside the dojang.

5. Violence Is Not the Goal

Hapkido is a system of self-defense, not aggression. Do not seek out fights or use your training to intimidate or harm others. Walk away from conflict when possible—true strength lies in restraint.

6. Be Part of the Community

Support your fellow students and contribute positively to the learning environment. Show courtesy and kindness to all—inside the school and in the wider community. Practice good hygiene, be punctual, and come to class ready to train seriously.

7. Always Train Safely

Pay attention to your surroundings and your partner’s limits. Communicate openly if something feels unsafe or uncomfortable. Injuries slow progress for everyone. Our goal is sustainable, long-term learning.

8. Be Willing to Learn and Improve

A true martial artist is always a student. Embrace every training session as a chance to grow in skill, character, and understanding. Progress may be slow, but consistency and humility will always prevail.

By committing to this Code of Conduct, you help preserve the integrity of our school and the spirit of Hapkido. We are not just martial artists—we are part of a tradition, a community, and a path toward bettering ourselves and those around us.
